Are you ready for Needlepoint Bingo?? Our final meeting of the year is a week and a half away and it’s going to be just for fun! A quick business meeting and then sit back relax and stitch while we play some Needlepoint Bingo. Having played it before – have your “The Needlepoint Book” by Jo Ippolito Christensen handy as all the names of the stitches come from there. I had never heard of some of them and now – I just have to look them up to see! I hope to find something interesting for my next canvas !

ANG is looking for donations as it’s the time of year to give. The nice part is if you give them a donation to help keep the organization going – there is someone that is matching the donations up to $10,000. What a wonderful gesture. You should have gotten an email with the details on Friday the 5th.

Morgan Julia Designs is also doing a charity deal called A Stitch of Strength. The canvas below comes in 2 versions and 20% of the proceeds will be given to American Cancer Society. This is being done as a partnership with The Courtly Canvas, a long time supporter of ACS. They shared the journey of Caroline Parker who stitched the canvas during her treatment. She stitched the “Shuck Cancer” version. Whether you stitch it for yourself, gift it, or display it as a symbol of hope, this is a canvas that carries purpose in every detail. Here is where you can order it: https://morganjuliadesigns.com/collections/retail-only?_kx=rV4MBEfWGkwURglkyUXCLopGavY2DCJQzP6Y94aO8T4.RWeQns

Another way to give this season is thru Evergreen Needlepoint. They are doing Charts for Charity which benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. For $15 you get a digital download chart of a classic German Christmas Gnome. It’s 4 inches on 13 count and 3 inches on 18 count. Orders during the month of December are a 100% donation. https://www.evergreenneedlepoint.com/

The time has finally come – the end of an era – Melissa Shirley is retiring after 46 years of designing needlepoint !! Yikes! One of the most beloved designers, but fear not – the company is not going out of business. The employees of the company will continue to produce and sell all of her wonderful canvases. She plans on going back to painting on surfaces without holes !! I am sure everyone in the needlework community wishes her well.

The very well known needlepoint shop in Dallas, Chaparral, has had a lot of issues !! The store is closed due to health issues by it’s owner Heidi. She was planning on moving her operation to Tennessee and becoming an online only store. She had a moving company pack up all her things along with the store – her entire inventory. Along the way the truck caught on fire – everything was lost !! At least no one got hurt. If you haven’t gotten a call from her then your finishing was still with the finishers. How devastating, she is starting all over again. We only wish her well and the best of luck.

Now for some good news !! Morgan Julia Designs has been doing their soft opening in Jersey City – already ! They are still doing by appointment only and their address is 278 Monmouth St. Jersey City, NJ https://morganjuliadesigns.com/pages/visit-us-nj

Penny Linn has a new Nantucket Stroll Village that she just launched. Bet they are fun to stitch and you can do what ever ones appeal to you. She has other buildings, like the front of her store that you can put into the mix. They look small enough that you want one of each as they will stitch up quickly. https://pennylinn.com/search?q=Nantucket+stroll+village

NEW CLUBS – sort of !!! The first one is The Needlepointer in conjunction with Needlepoint Now magazine is doing the Leaf Wreath. The club starts in March/April and will last 6 months. The first shipment you get blank canvas, a thread pack, a copy of Needlepoint Now with the stitch guide, stretcher bars and the template for the leaf. They also have a link to a tutorial on how to prepare your canvas. If you didn’t do it the first time around, here is your chance to again create this interesting wreath ! https://theneedlepointer.com/products/layers-of-leaves-wave-2?se_activity_id=168867823858&syclid=d4qbprr7j1os73diad1g&utm_campaign=Leaf%20No%20Trace%3F%20Club%20Surprises%20Await!_168867823858&utm_medium=email&utm_source=shopify_email&selling_plan=6057197810&variant=48101335859442

The second club is again from The Needlepointer. This time it’s a 9 month club that starts Feb/March and it’s called Holiday Greetings. The canvases are designed by Danji Designs and are envelopes for various holidays. You get a canvas on 18 count, stitch guide, thread pack AND a frame so you can self finish the projects. https://theneedlepointer.com/products/holiday-greetings?se_activity_id=168636449010&syclid=d4qbv34e8qus739dpqm0&utm_campaign=Join%20the%20Exciting%20Holiday%20Club%20Today!_168636449010&utm_medium=email&utm_source=shopify_email&selling_plan=6401327346&variant=48268015173874

TIPS AND TRICKS: A neat travel option by DMC – An Eco Vita wooden project box with 12 bobbins. It’s big enough to hold all the tools you need for a small project yet you can put it on a table and put the bobbins into the lid when you go to work. A magnet to hold your needle and it’s small enough to carry. A great stocking stuffer !! https://www.dmc.com/US/en/products/wooden-bobbin-organiser-eco-vita?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=campaign&utm_campaign=US%20-%20Gift%20Idea%3A%20Eco%20Vita%20Box%20%2B%20Storage%20Sale%3A%20Up%20to%2050%25%20off%20%20%2B%20Last%20Order%20Dates&utm_id=01KBJBWZSKQHB19KWVTKF1HDA7&_kx=atRrFA8nk7gtG5P_O-nQHVnNrDkkX_V81JiOhNoZL2Y.XXhKWs

Happy Hanukkah to those that celebrate.

The meeting on Wed was fabulous. We had a large attendance and no one walked away without having a new appreciation for Toni Gerdes. I was asked several times how someone could talk about one stitch – well, not only did she, but I think there were several hoping to find some of Mary Rhodes patterns by the end of the talk. They were so beautiful and contemporary. Mary Rhodes authored several books of which many are still on the market as used if your interested. What a GREAT talk. Next month is a holiday celebration game and stitch in – no pressure !

Have you checked out the “Spring Fling”? There is still time to register because after all, the classes don’t start until April !! Registration closes on Nov 26 but by then your in the middle of the holiday. Check out the offerings and hopefully there is something your interested in AND it’s not sold out.

The new Needle Pointers magazine is about to hit your mailbox with the Nov/Dec 2025 issue. As usual it’s bright and colorful and packed with lots to read and admire. This issue in particular has a local needlepoint store to us in the “Shop Hop” article. They spotlighted “Ridgewood Needlepoint”. The Tale of 2 Stitchers canvas is amazing – I want to know how each did the bubbles !! LOL This magazine is a wonderful part of being a member of ANG. You can check it out online at the ANG web site if you can’t wait for the “snail”. While your at it – don’t forget to renew your membership. Earlier is always better and they now have options.

The Woodlawn Needlework Show registration is now open. NJNA will be participating in the show as usual. Go online to the Woodlawn web site to register the pieces you want to enter. You have until 2/1/26 to register and NJNA will coordinate getting the pieces to and from the exhibit. Linda M recently sent an email about it. Nelly’s Needlers is celebrating 51 years and their cookies should not be missed if you go. https://www.woodlawnpopeleighey.org/nwshow26

Thanks to Sharon B. for the interesting update on Kreinik thread. Probably one of the most widely used threads and soon it will be in the LNS on a more reliable basis. Here is what she found out from the new owner – Rainbow Gallery : We have been waiting for 10 new high-speed braiding machines to arrive from Europe for several months: they were delayed due to manufacturer adjustments. After that and time to ship via boat and clear customs and tariffs, they didn’t get here until middle of October. It takes some time to set everything up, arrange electrical acccess, and get connected/started, then building up stock, but we’re on it. These 10 machines are equivalent to 40 old Kreinik machines, and we have 10 more on order. We know it has been a long wait for both Kreinik and Rainbow Gallery threads, and these additions will help dramatically.

Talking about thread Rittenhouse Needlepoint is now carrying a new thread – Pirate + Robin. This is a hand dyed 6 strand cotton floss that is variegated along with deep solid colors !! They say the thread is softer than most so it’s a pleasure to stitch with. Check it out on their web site: https://rittenhouseneedlepoint.com/collections/pirate-robin?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=email&_kx=QNbnum1iUEN5weUC3DuK75aOlVx0Dud-BR0a603hRFw.TU8N4e

Moore Stitching has some new people in their line up of famous people to stitch. My Ina Garten was fun to do and someone else I know did Lucy. She came out adorable with French knots for her hair !! They have a wonderful sense of humor with the addition of Alfred Hitchcock to Coco Chanel to Snoop Dog and more. They just make you smile ! https://moorestitching.com/collections/new-arrivals

Penny Linn owner Krista has incredible energy for a mother and small business owner that is looking to open another store besides the flagship one in CT. She must have had 5 mins so she decided to do a podcast. The podcast lasts about an hour and she is planning more of them. The first she tells you how Penny Linn got started – really interesting. If you want to listen: https://pennylinn.com/blogs/news/introducing-the-penny-linn-podcast?srsltid=AfmBOoqCc099ivxEfwa86FiilG9adlaKjpQ5V1CCzbEI0wIWQZ_f5vVe&_kx=rV4MBEfWGkwURglkyUXCLopGavY2DCJQzP6Y94aO8T4.RWeQns

One of the newest items hitting the stores are coasters. When you think of it – they are small so they are a quick stitch. Many of the coasters in acrylic you can swap them out for new designs. They also make a great gift. I was looking at Needlepoint .com and they had holiday ones along with different flowers and seashells…. Choices, choices, choices ! And there are Sales, Sales, Sales everywhere !

The next most popular thing these days is Mah Jong !! Many needlepoint stores are having evening stitchin’s with Mah Jong tables going too. Mah Jong canvases seemed to be same old, same old until I saw these at the Wool and The Floss. Let’s just say – new and different !! AND – of course it just wouldn’t be right unless there was a needle minder to go with them! These are all exclusive to The Wool and The Floss. https://woolfloss.com/collections/mahjong-exclusives?se_activity_id=167321207004&syclid=d4catv7s2rdc73a2duq0&utm_campaign=Holiday+Portraits+Club+%F0%9F%8E%85+%E2%98%83%EF%B8%8F+%F0%9F%90%A7+_167321207004&utm_medium=email&utm_source=shopify_email

Someone I know showed me an unusual “ORT” holder. How cute is this? I believe Home Depot also has them but they don’t have a lid like the Lowe’s version. Smaller than a coffee cup and very inexpensive – they make a great stocking stuffer for all kinds of things – even ort’s !!

Don’t forget – Nov 29th is Small Business Saturday – support your LNS !

Tips and Tricks: So you are stitching a santa and you need his beard to be fluffy. Or your doing turkey work on a project and it needs some fibers to be raised for effect – then you need a “Bunka Brush”! Watch the video and you will want one !! https://needlepoint.com/blogs/needlepoint-know-how/all-about-the-bunka-brush

Who was that Famous Stitcher? That is Judith Baker Montano – a Canadian fiber artist with many best selling books such as “The Art of Silk Ribbon Embroidery” or “Crazy Quilt Handbook”. She has had a career that spans many artistic mediums. Read her biography: https://www.judithbakermontano.com/JBMwebsite/bio_html/bio_about.html

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

Are you ready to stitch the Sea Jelly ???? I have been waiting for months !! LOL. Jacqui C. asked that you stitch the circle (it went really fast !) This is a cute project that is going to stitch up quickly. Next month is a “Must See” – we are going to have a fabulous designer, Toni Gerdes. She is going to do a talk on the Rhodes Stitch. Having heard it before she does a wonderful job – don’t miss it ! I had computer problems which is why this is a week off BUT, so much happened in that time you will have extra to read!

It’s that time of year again ! Time for all the shops and designers to get together so that we all have lots of new projects and gadgets to buy !! Also known as the Autumn Needlepoint Reunion which is held Oct. 17-19 in Frisco TX. You should be seeing some peaks of the new items coming out but if not – here are a few:

Interesting New Book out ! – “Make It Yours Book 2 Extraordinary Fonts” – this is an exclusive to The Wool and The Floss. This is a sequel to Krissy Johnson’s “Make It Yours Book 1 The Essentials”. There is more than just fonts in this book. The best way to understand some great uses for it is to – go to the video!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm2H4xpV3oM The heart template she uses in the video is also available thru the Wool and The Floss. https://woolfloss.com/collections/tools-of-the-trade/products/square-rectangle-templates-copy

I have not heard anything good about Straw Silk coming back soon. People are stripping stores of it as it is not in production right now. A great fiber to stitch with but we are all going to need a substitute. Who knew Straw Silk had a “Sister Fiber!” It’s called Soie Tissee (pronounced swah t-say).  The designer of this thread has worked to perfect a signature dyeing technique that allows a beautiful graduation of hues on each strand. They have added nearly 60 colors to the line – lot’s of choices !! https://silkroadfiber.com/straw-silk-fiber/

NEW THREAD ALERT ! Radiance 13 has been released. This adds to the 18 and Mini already on shelves. There is 102 colors to choose from and you can also get bags of special editions with 6 spools in a bag. I have heard some people say that this unravels so it’s hard to work with. According to M’s Canvas house you need to put some Bee’s wax on the end and it should be fine. Worth a try as it is so pretty stitched. Check it out at your LNS or M’s Canvas house. https://www.mscanvashouse.com/

There is Good News and Bad News ! The Bad News first – Stitch Stash Darien CT has closed it’s store. It was just to much for Patty going back and forth from DE to CT. Now for the GOOD News !!! Morgan Julia Designs is opening up a “brick and mortar” store in Jersey City NJ !! She had a very successful “Pop Up” in Manhattan this past weekend with close to 1500 people stopping by. Stay tuned for more information !

If that good news was not enough – THERE IS MORE !! One of our favorite stores in this area Stitch By Stich in NY is moving to bigger quarters. They just celebrated 21 years in business and decided to give themselves AND US a treat by moving to a space almost double what their store is now. They are going to have more thread lines and lots more space for classes, workshops, pop up’s….. They are staying within Larchmont NY and expect to welcome everyone to the new space mid January 2026. Can’t wait to visit !!! https://stitchbystitchneedlepoint.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooH6_X6wJCDBrOoWraDtc2co2C_Yr_6w_z-KYpYT5MboZbMw3ep

Do you have/Are you a Taylor Swift fan??? Atlantic Blue now has several of her costumes you can stitch. They also have stitch guides AND matching sparkle material for finishing !! They NEED BEADS !!! https://www.atlanticbluecanvas.com/search?options%5Bfields%5D=title%2Cvendor%2Cproduct_type%2Cvariants.title&options%5Bprefix%5D=last&options%5Bunavailable_products%5D=last&page=1&q=taylor+swift

Jump Seat Therapy has some new items – great for quick gifts and for new stitchers ! The book marks are wonderful for readers of all ages and they give a discount for bundles ! Small enough to have them done for the holidays (great as a gift for a stitcher as well). https://www.jumpseattherapy.shop/?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=email&_kx=PuRAeW7JsUy1qwy0i8_aQiL-0c9dpZmjqZOJxqhXaYs.V9JXWx

DMC thread has a great offer going – “The Craft Corner Bundle”. Everything in this picture including 2 project bags, all the threads, boxes trays for separation, bobbins and stickers with the numbers. Go to the web site and watch the video – yes it comes with all of that !! https://quilt-public-production.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/public_images/7fa4e5aa222c79e4716bf0df709035bf

Hannah Bass has some interesting canvases and they are usually sold as a kit. She has come out with a funky looking new one – it may not be for everyone but it certainly will keep you busy. Check out her web site – she has some out of the box items. If your a dog lover you will see her dogs in various pictures! https://hannahbass.com/collections/needlepoint-kits/other

It’s That Time Of Year Again! KC Needlepoint is calling on all stitchers to “Stitch & Make a Difference. The Greater Kansas City Needlepoint Guild has been working with KC Needlepoint since 2015. Hearts stitched from all over are used on the doors of recently passed residents so people passing by will give the family the time they need. The Hearts for Hospice program gives the mourning family the heart that was placed on the door as a remembrance. If you would like to stitch a heart for the program KC Needlepoint will finish it and make sure the program receives it. They also sell canvas in which you can stitch a heart. https://www.kcneedlepoint.com/products/hearts-for-hospice-canvas?_pos=1&_psq=hearts+for+hospice+&_ss=e&_v=1.0&omnisendContactID=61fc368aa1816e00226a532d&utm_campaign=campaign%3A+Hearts+for+hospice+%2868b5e85e48babc772d1c8a0f%29&utm_medium=email&utm_source=omnisend

There are 2 new clubs out there !! The Needlepointer is doing “Vivid Jellyfish”. This is one canvas measuring 12 x 12. This is a 6 month club and each month you get a thread pack and stitch guide. They expect this to start about Jan/Feb. Something a little different. https://www.theneedlepointer.com/vivid-jellyfish-first-month-150-div-idclubsubtitleopen-enrollmentdiv/p8516113?cse=nl092725&goal=0_3621358244-220acab384-69343533&mc_cid=220acab384&mc_eid=2e6039e84f

The second club is completely different !!! This one is thru Ruth Schmuff – Bedecked and Bedazzled. This one is a bit different from most of her canvases – Moderne Autumn. With a stained glass background and rich colors I am sure Ruth will do some fabulous things to this. The class is all on zoom from November 28 – 30 https://bedeckedandbeadazzled.com/product/modern-autumn/

Tips & Tricks: I have used the self finishing products out there and they are great but you definitely could use a little help at times getting your canvas in. KC Needlepoint has a tool to help (though it looks like something my manicurist uses!) The pointed end helps create the gap so you can get your canvas in. The flat end helps smooth out and straighten the canvas so it sits nicely in the item. It’s inexpensive and worth the price to help with the struggle. https://www.kcneedlepoint.com/collections/self-finishing-accessories/products/self-finishing-leather-tool

Who was that Famous Stitcher? That is Susan Portra. Both Susan and Tony Minieri were the first ones to write stitch guides for canvas work. She resides in CA and teaches classes at her local store.

This week we had our September meeting and having skipped last month there were lots of topics. Aside from regular business we are going to need volunteers to help with “The Festival of Trees” . We do this event each year. Even if you can’t help putting up or taking down the tree we are going to need ornaments. Jacqui C. will be collecting them at the next meeting or you can drop them with Cathryn C. at the Edwardian. Remember to put a list/picture of your ornaments in the bag so the ornaments get back to the right people ! We also discussed next months project – the Sea Jelly. If you are participating, please try to do the outline of the round so we can discuss the body of the sea jelly and then it’s other components. The silent auction has 2 lucky winners, one getting more than one canvas. The remainder will be donated to the Holly Name Hospital Cancer Survivors program. We also got a little information about an upcoming Workshop with Lorene Salt. This will be on Zoom in early 2026 – more info coming shortly. Much of the evening was devoted to this year’s seminar. Lot’s of interesting projects were offered and there is a video on YouTube of next year’s seminar in Denver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=di8wwUp8ZTk There was also discussion on if there is going to be a seminar in 2027. It most likely will not be like previous years. They are working on it and looking for suggestions. EGA is also looking for a change in 2028. And if all that is not enough – Our own Sue C. is the featured “Artist of the Month” in the Mendham Borough Library. Lots of her finished pieces are on display for you to go see. We packed a lot into one meeting !

Congratulations to all the winners in the ANG Summer Online Auction. ANG made out very well making over $15k ! Can’t wait to see what they have in next years auction !

It’s almost that time again – ANG renewal time !! You can begin to renew on October 1st. Watch for an email before that as they are going to offer more membership options that you can choose from.

FRAUD ALERT !! Be very careful – Debbie Rowley’s web site was hacked !! They are sending out BOGUS emails asking you to take a survey – don’t do it !!! Delete the email so you too don’t get hacked. She says she changed her passwords and hopefully has remedied the situation.

Now for some great news !!!! A new thread is coming out from Tilli Thomas called “Bisous”. According to Ellen Johnson of Serendipity it’s a premium 50/50 silk and Merino Wool blend, similar to Impressions. The number of colors looks wonderful. Can’t wait to find it in a store to give it a try !!

The Needlepointer has started a new Face Book Group called: The Needlepointer: Stitching Circle. Their goal is to create a supportive and creative place for all those that needlepoint can go to. Click on the link above and give them a try.

A new store has opened in our local area – “Mrs. Meshugga”. Lisa the “Chief Trouble Maker” says her motto is “Life makes us crazy, stitching keeps us sane”. I think she is right ! I hear her store is within a store at 1875 Springfield Ave, Maplewood, NJ. We wish her all the best and a little sanity !

Mah Jong is all the rage these days. Even needlepoint canvases are having their own “Mahj” explosion. The Wool and the Floss owner, Melissa is so into it that she is having a K.I.S.S. Stitch In at her new store with optional Mahj Mayhem! The event is for 2 days and of course it’s a lottery. It includes a Simple Swag Bag and Lunch both days. They want to know if you play as they will have tables and tiles available for stitching breaks. The lottery closes at midnight on Mon 9/22 so hurry if you want to take a chance. AND – coming soon is an English Country Garden Mahjong mat by Kate Dickerson! That is BIG ! https://woolfloss.com/pages/stitch-in-events?se_activity_id=165562024156&syclid=d37cvino360c73c9kprg&utm_campaign=Stitch-In+Lottery+now+open%21+w%2F+%2Aoptional%2A+Mahj+Mayhem+%F0%9F%80%84%EF%B8%8F+_165562024156&utm_medium=email&utm_source=shopify_email

Clubs, Clubs and more Clubs !! The season has started for lot’s of new and varied designs ! First up is Atlantic Blue, they have the shortest club of them all, 3 months. They are doing limited edition exclusive canvases of Vintage Holiday Deserts in conjunction with The Lemon Stitchery. Their club has 2 ways to go – either the full club or a hybrid version. The full club gets canvas, stitch guide, thread, “accoutrements” and a surprise. The hybrid is a lesser version. The first boxes start shipping on October 1 ! https://www.atlanticbluecanvas.com/collections/clubs?_kx=_6T6ZEqw3FzRTyL6whjCxpBoWNmvx7M7ogeQHpVHlzk.SdsruM

Tips & Tricks: Anyone that keeps up with Ruth Schmuff (Bedecked and Bedazzled) knows how much she LOVES to bead. She has 5 things to do/have that make beading more successful. 1. Keep your beads close by with a beading mat. 2. You need a good tight tension and if you have trouble try using some wax. 3. Good beading needles. 4. Magnification so you can see what your doing. 5. Still got questions/issues – check out her You Tube channel for video’s and demos. https://bedeckedandbeadazzled.com/2025/09/top-beading-tips/?utm_source=mailpoet&utm_medium=email&utm_source_platform=mailpoet&utm_campaign=the-last-newslettertotal-posts-from-our-blog-1

How fast was that – it’s seminar time in NOLA !! Melita has been blogging about her experiences and hopefully she has gotten some sleep (those partying in the streets can be heard on the upper floors!). She showed us what she got in her welcome bag – very nice. But, the exciting part is the awards she won ! At the welcome Banquet she was given the “Creative Inspiration Award” for her “Flowers Along A Rhode” AND she won a 2nd Place Ribbon as an original design-Professional. She is right – what an honor !!! Hope everyone else is enjoying the seminar – a wonderful thing to do if you have never gone. I had the best time when I went and there is so much to do and see.

Our Linda M. reminded us – EARLY – that Woodlawn will be here before you know it. Thank you Linda for lighting that fire to finish our WIP’s !!

Are you hurrying to get items in for finishing this year?? Don’t !! Unless you are doing it yourself or you know your LNS can get it finished in time – most of the major stores are all putting out notices that they can no longer take in anything for finishing this year. This just says that our hobby has become so popular we either have to stitch faster or a year in advance ! (I am stitching as fast as I can!)

NEW – NEW – NEW – NEW Check out Penny Linn – just when you think she has it all – she has new acrylic boxes that have a scalloped edge ! So Pretty !! She also has a scalloped frame. Easier to see on her web site OR there can always be a road trip to the store !!! I’m just saying.. https://pennylinn.com/collections/acrylic?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=campaign&utm_campaign=8%2F22%20New%20Acrylic&_kx=95-hSwAYM_w1abxIXjXQMDX2ZPJpMD1KDiXnRxmVLaI.RspkHP

Also NEW – Treenway Silk Ribbons has a bunch of new colors. The last time they added new solid colors to their line was 2022. They only add colors when they have multiple requests. By the end of 2025 they expect to have even more – stay tuned. Wow – I just read they have been in business for 48 years – staying power! Great product, it’s no wonder. https://www.treenwaysilks.com/productlist.php?category=1

Something else – soon to be new – Coco Frank is going to give birth in September ! As of now any order placed will not be shipped until early October. Her newest canvas is an adorable rocking horse – bet there will be more cute baby canvases to come ! https://cocofrankstudio.com/products/rocking-horse

There is a new club at the Needlepointer – Peppermint Candies – in lots of colors ! It doesn’t start until Dec/Jan and includes the canvas, stitch guide and thread. It’s a 12 month club and when your finished you will have mastered 12 different stitches, one for each candy. https://www.theneedlepointer.com/candies-peppermintsdiv-idclubsubtitleopen-enrollmentdiv/p8516094?cse=nl081625&goal=0_3621358244-bdbe38c6e2-69343533&mc_cid=bdbe38c6e2&mc_eid=2e6039e84f

Also NEW – Morgan Julia Designs had such success with her Nutcracker last year she designed one for every month and a few extra ! These are small quick stitches and are sold individually kitted with Milan thread on cards or with no thread. The collection is a collaboration with Greystone Needlepoint. https://morganjuliadesigns.com/collections/nutcrackers?_kx=rV4MBEfWGkwURglkyUXCLopGavY2DCJQzP6Y94aO8T4.RWeQns

Now for some not so good news ! One of our favorite designs, Kathy Rees, has announced that due to rising costs she has to raise the price of her kits starting Sept 1. Depending on the kit the increase could be as high as 15%. If you were on the fence, now is the time to buy. So not everything is bad news – she is also having a sale on 2 Christmas patterns. She has so many great patterns check out her web site and take advantage. https://needledelights.com/

I just read about SJ Designs (those little round containers with the white paper in the middle containing all sizes and colors of beads). Apparently there have been many upheavals in the industry. First Swarovski stopped supplying the craft industry. Preciosa took over and now – they have discontinued over 90% of their pearl bead colors. SJ Designs has decided to replace their entire line of Glass Pearls with stock from a different factory. This will result in more colors and more consistent dye lots. If you are doing a large project make sure you have enough of what you need. https://sj-designs.net/shop/

The current President of our guild found something very interesting – Stitching Cards. Such a simple way to make a hand stitched greeting card. All the instructions are on the web site and with the down load. You print the pattern on card stock and they give you how to do the stitches to make the patterns. This company covers all varieties of occasions and age groups. Some thread and something to punch the hole and your off !! The more advanced have Jean Hilton stitches ! Some also have beads – LOL! Check it out on their web site – a neat gift ! Thank you Noelle! https://www.stitchingcards.com/info/tutorials/how-to-make-stitching-cards/

Even though one of the nicest LNS’s is on vacation (and deservedly !) Stitch By Stich in NY will be closed from now thru Sept 1 – BUT – that didn’t stop them from showing off lots of new releases and sneak peaks coming in the Autumn Needlepoint Reunion this October (Yes- Already!) From bag charms to new Mah Jong bag designs, snow globes, cosmetic bags and way more. Time to take a break, get a glass of a favorite beverage and wander thru their web site. https://stitchbystitchneedlepoint.com/collections/whats-new-2025

Tips and Tricks: Missed a stitch? You think so but can’t find it?? Get a “Domed Magnifier” aka a Bug Eye. I have had one for years BUT KC Needlepoint now has 2 sizes ! A 3 inch – for larger projects and a 2 inch for smaller canvases. Not that I am suggesting your missing stitches mind you – it’s a good way to check before you have something framed or finished so as not to find a missing stich after it’s too late. https://www.kcneedlepoint.com/blogs/news/missed-a-stitch-weve-got-you-covered?omnisendContactID=61fc368aa1816e00226a532d&utm_campaign=campaign%3A+Domes+%2868842f0ee966661261b4484f%29&utm_medium=email&utm_source=omnisend

Who was that Famous Stitcher? That is Melissa MacLeod – the owner of the Wool and the Floss in MI. She has been stitching since the age of 7. She learned in the same shop she eventually taught in and then bought in 2017. If you have never watched an “Unboxing Party” (born out of COVID) you are missing a fun event. She does them once a week and the finishing she shows along with new items for the store will definitely keep your attention. Very creative store ! https://woolfloss.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoo5B64x1BaZRIVYYWmL92xsJEXne9L2i56e4MMIP2-ImGBnMY9W

Do you know who this famous stitcher is?
