This coming week is our July meeting – already ! With vacations and holidays we are going to have a calm “stitch in” this time. Jacqui C. will also discuss what threads are needed for the “Sea Jelly”. Come relax and stitch with us !

ANG has introduced the new Quarterly Stitch. At first glance I thought this was a quick easy small project – then I read about it ! It’s called “Ottoman Triad II” and was designed by Denise Beusen. It was inspired by embroideries of the Ottoman Empire. Have you ever done a “Bukhara” stitch? How about the “Atma” stitch or the “Turkish triangular stitch”? It does say this project is for advanced intermediate stitchers. Makes you want to look up the project and see what an “Atma” stitch is !! They say it can be finished as a box top or framed. It’s on the ANG web site to look at now – go check it out – I did !! LOL

If you live in the NY Metro area – get excited !! Morgan Julia Designs is going to do a “Pop Up” store in SoHo NYC. She is renting out a whole store for 3 days at 188 Lafayette St. on October 3-5 (Fri thru Sun). She will be launching a brand new collection of canvases. These will be exclusive to the pop up except for one. That one will be put up online as not everyone can get to NYC. No ticket is necessary, just come on down. She is putting up sneak peaks on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/18357987586156934/?_kx=rV4MBEfWGkwURglkyUXCLopGavY2DCJQzP6Y94aO8T4.RWeQns

She is also going to need one of her – Chill Pills when it’s finished.

Want to buy a Needlepoint Store?? Patti Hoffman of Stitch Stash owns 2 stores and they are quite a distance apart. She has been running between Rehoboth Beach and Darien Ct and she just can’t keep doing the commute so she is selling her Darien CT store. If you are seriously interested she asked that you don’t contact the stores. Contact her personally  at 302-569-0063 or Stitch-Stash@hotmail.com

Knit One Needlepoint Too is on the move – but not far. (Right next door!) If your in or near Monticello NY go check out their new location. The new store is a bigger and better location.
Over 2000 square feet of high ceilings, huge windows and great lighting to bring you yarn, needlepoint, beads, jewelry, books, totes, notions and tools. Their new address is 364 East Broadway in Monticello and they are open Thurs thru Mon. Looking forward to seeing pictures on Instagram and FaceBook when they get a breath !! https://www.needlepointtoo.com/

A little closer to us – The Edwardian Needle is having a Trunk Show of Lee products. There are all sorts of self finishing items from leather bags to gift boxes, jewelry boxes, wallets, ornaments, cosmetic bags and much more. There are also piles of canvases that fit the items. Check out the Lee site for ideas of their well made items then go to the store for a bargain. https://colonialneedle.com/collections/lee-self-finishing-goods

Vacation Alert – The Edwardian will be closed for their annual vacation the last 2 weeks of August. Plan ahead for what you may need while they are closed.

Looking for something new and different to stitch – yet quick ?!?!? Rittenhouse Needlepoint has padded hangers to stitch. Oz Needle and Thread is the designer and they have a big selection to choose from including areas to put a monogram. What a great gift idea for a special occasion. https://www.ozneedleandthread.com/ Rittenhouse can do the finishing as well. https://rittenhouseneedlepoint.com/products/oz-needle-and-thread-california-poppies-needlepoint-hanger-canvas?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=email&_kx=QNbnum1iUEN5weUC3DuK75aOlVx0Dud-BR0a603hRFw.TU8N4e

Whether your Italian or just enjoy Italian food you want to go look at the new canvases by Stitch Rock. All you need for a good dinner including a refreshing drink !! They always have great small canvases, many come kitted – or not and a great beginner selection. Worth a look !! https://stitchrockdesigns.com/

Penny Linn gave a sneak peak of a new designer, Kaitlin Lane Designs. Her canvases are playing cards based on the play Wicked. She says there is lot’s more to come soon ! https://pennylinn.com/collections/new-all?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=campaign&utm_campaign=7%2F1%20Kaitlin%20Lane%20Wicked%20Cards&_kx=95-hSwAYM_w1abxIXjXQMDX2ZPJpMD1KDiXnRxmVLaI.RspkHP

A favorite store in our area – Stitch By Stitch in NY has a couple of neat new items. Round self finishing magnets by Planet Earth and Rachel Donley has a new 2 sided handbag. You can look thru this web site for hours! Dangerous !! https://stitchbystitchneedlepoint.com/collections/whats-new-2025

Tips and Tricks: I never know when to add an extra row or two for finishing. According to KC Needlepoint, it can give the finisher a problem depending on what it is being finished. Call where you are having an item finished to be sure but a quick guide is:

Who was that Famous Stitcher? This is Madeleine Harwell – the creative woman behind Madeleine Elisabeth Needlepoint. She has an art degree from Florida State University. Her mother worked in a knitting/needlepoint store and she helped out starting at the age of 9. By the age of 14 she got some help from another woman in the business and was showing her own canvas designs in the 2018 Orlando show. Everything just grew from there. https://www.facebook.com/madeleineelizabethneedlepoint/

Do you know who these famous stitchers are?

Our last meeting was great !!! Jacqui C. did a fabulous presentation on different things to use in finishing your pieces. New and different ideas to say the least. We also were told about a lovely woman, Judith C. who decided she has WAY too much in her stash and donated some lovely canvases to our guild. Rosie put together a presentation of them and there will be an auction with the proceeds going to the guild for future programs and speakers. Of course, you have to be a member to bid on the pieces and we would love to have you as a member to enjoy so many great opportunities for learning and social get togethers. Check out our web site https://njneedleartists.org/ for more information. Here are the canvases up for auction: (tough choice-gotta love the flag !)

And the countdown begins – 21 days until this years seminar in “NOLA”. Hopefully you are one of the participants and are ready for a great time. So many classes to take and lots to see and do. It takes a “village” to do these seminars and even if you are not attending they have the Pelican frame weight you can order by mail, or if your in the area you can go see the exhibit, shop the Expo and bid in the silent auction not to mention, hang with friends. Hope everyone just enjoys their time together.

The new July/August Needle Pointers magazine is about to hit your mail box and the cover is perfect !!! Check it out online on the ANG web site – it is full of great articles as always. The effort into putting this magazine together shows every issue. I can’t wait to read about the article on threads and a new book out. They visited – West End Needlepoint for the shop hop. The Tale of Two Stitchers is all about flowers this time and as usual, Melita takes us back in time to forgotten treasures in the archives. What a great Bargello project they put in and the first thing I had to do was look closely at what beads they used for the lemons !!! LOL Of course there is more to read about in this issue – worth joining ANG just for the magazine !!

What do you know – Stitch Palettes is back !! After a year and 7 months this free lance web designer was so overwhelmed by her work load she decided to scale back a bit and bring Stitch Palettes back. She creates such wonderful combinations of color for stitchers and provides the DMC numbers to go with the grouping of threads. She also has a way to do your own grouping for a specific project along with a lot of other useful information. Starting this July, she will be resuming the weekly inspirational emails, and start publishing daily palettes on her website again. Lot’s to look at !! https://stitchpalettes.com/

On the last blog I was VERY excited to tell everyone about Moore Stitching’s new canvas of the Barfoot Contessa (of course I bought her!). I should have waited as they came out with a bunch more and how fitting to have Anna Wintour just as she is about to step down from her Editor – In Chief position at Vogue! Scarlet O’Hara is very detailed and Betsy Ross is adorable. The last one needs no introduction – in the commercials she loves her dirt !! Check out Moore Stitching as they have other very cute items (particularly if you like the Royal Family). https://moorestitching.com/collections/new-arrivals

I find that many needle pointers happen to be Mah Jong players. The tiles can make a lot of noise on a table so many people buy a mat to muffle the sound. Of course if you really want to be fancy – KC Needle Point has a mat you can stitch !! Yikes. SCT designs created a 13 mesh piece that is 32 inches X 32 inches. Yes it is pricey – but what a statement !! Of course they carry several smaller items to stitch ! https://www.kcneedlepoint.com/collections/new-from-market/products/mahj-mat-needlepoint-canvas?omnisendContactID=61fc368aa1816e00226a532d&utm_campaign=campaign%3A+Mahj+mat+%28684f25df89fe8410e6ba7532%29&utm_medium=email&utm_source=omnisend

New Club Alert !! This one is a bit different as it’s thru none other than Bedecked and Bedazzled. Ruth is doing several Halloween items by her favorite (and many of us) – Zecca. It’s a trio of Twisty Trees. The madness starts in September and I can’t imagine the embellishments alone on these canvases. https://bedeckedandbeadazzled.com/product/halloween-trees/

If your looking for a more “traditional” club – The Needlepointer has a Halloween themed club called “Fang-Tastic Cookies” A 12 month club with 18 count canvases that are 5X5 – quick and easy. Stitch guide and thread pack complete this monthly journey of boo-tiful culinary stitching. https://www.theneedlepointer.com/fangtastic-cookiesdiv-idclubsubtitleopen-enrollmentdiv/p8515671?cse=nl062125&goal=0_3621358244-fad24eb819-69343533&mc_cid=fad24eb819&mc_eid=2e6039e84f

I know many people that check out Gone Stitching’s web site particularly for threads. Best selection of Kreinik I know of. They have a system that makes finding what you want easy and it is mailed right away or ready in the store by the time you get there. They have just updated their web site and made it even better !! It’s easier to use and much more colorful. Things like this make the search for an item less of a chore so you can keep on stitching. https://www.gonestitching.net/

Needlepoint .com has a beautiful new selection of map kits. One is prettier than the next. I bet there will be more to come in the future !! They come in either 13 or 18 mesh and are “stitch printed” making it easier – no guess work as to which color is at that intersection. Stitch guide and premium thread is included. Great suggestions on how they used them in the pictures. Bet these are fun to stitch and a great gift. https://needlepoint.com/collections/the-map-collection?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=campaign&utm_campaign=2025_06_24%20Map%20Collection&utm_klaviyo_id=01EY735XHE675Z0Z1C4Z7SB8DK&_kx=SpNrwJYeSg8JHGV3vDRNkpeUD67Ddf2hdz1HBTATTO0.TxAVmM

If you are or know someone that is new to stitching and is ready to learn some new stitches this might be a great learning canvas. KC Needlepoint has their signature stitch challenge. You learn 21 stitches on a 13 mesh canvas. The kit includes stretcher bars, tacks, guide, needle minder, needle and premium thread (pepper pot silk, silk lame braid). Even better – it comes in 4 color ways. A great way to learn. https://www.kcneedlepoint.com/products/2021stitchchallengekit?variant=37764888133806

Now that your thinking about some of these projects – OR – are getting ready to go on vaca – – every respectable Bag Lady needs a new bag to carry her “Stuff” in. Rittenhouse Needlepoint is showing the new Planet Earth/Tilli Thomas tote bags. They are self finishing cotton canvas with a pocket on the back and take either 5 or 6 inch canvases depending on size. They come in 7 colors and from the side, look like they have plenty of room. https://rittenhouseneedlepoint.com/collections/new-arrivals-needlepoint

News Flash !! There is a new store now open in Kennebunkport Maine called Destination Needlepoint. How convenient for those vacationing in that beautiful state. From the pictures on Instagram they are located in a quaint looking house and have plenty of stock to look at in the store. They also look like they want you to be comfy as there are lots of chairs and a lovely looking yard to relax and chat in. https://www.instagram.com/destination_needlepoint/

The idea is catching on – first I saw Morgan Julia and now Atlantic Blue Canvas is doing a reward program. You get 1 point for each $1 your spend. There are various tiers of points and the rewards get better. Read the details on the web site and shop till you drop. https://www.atlanticbluecanvas.com/pages/abc-wave-points?_kx=_6T6ZEqw3FzRTyL6whjCxpBoWNmvx7M7ogeQHpVHlzk.SdsruM

Tips and Tricks: Ever struggle trying to get a knot out of your fiber? Frustrating. The Fern Ridge Collection has a tip: Have a knot in your fiber that seems impossible to get out? Flatten the knot, then use your needle to open up the knot, it comes out easier. https://www.fernridgecollections.com/tipsandtricks.php

Who was that Famous Stitcher? This is Don Lynch – the owner/designer behind Associated Talents and Two Sisters Needlepoint. He is actually a U of Kentucky graduate with a degree in Business. He opened a needlepoint store in 1999. He started designing when his mother asked him to design canvases for her and it grew from there. Read more about him on Needlepoint .com – https://needlepoint.com/blogs/needlepoint-know-how/meet-don-the-designer-behind-associated-talents-and-two-sisters

Even though our 35th Anniversary is officially in November all the members should have gotten that great little gift. A big Thank You to Jacqui C and Cathryn C. for all their work on that project. Nothing better to celebrate with than a new needlepoint tool !!

This coming week’s June meeting – yes, already – we will be hearing from Jacqui C. about finishing techniques and ideas. Always an interesting topic.

The count down is on – the seminar in August will be here before you know it. Though the seminar registration is now closed you have a little time left to register to exhibit some of your work. The deadline is June 27th. Share your work and vie for ribbons and awards. ANG has a brochure online with all the rules, categories etc. that you need to know.

ANG is starting a new Fundraising Campaign called Tapestry of Giving. This campaign is dedicated to raising funds that will help sustain and grow the programs and services they offer to members. Their goal is to raise $250,000 over the next 2 years. This effort will be done in phases and the first phase is for Lifetime Patrons. They will be getting email this coming week with details about the program. Eventually all members will be contacted. Hopefully they will be able to achive their goal and have ANG be viable for many years to come.

While we are at it – ANG is looking for 3 Board Member Positions, If you would like to be involved maybe VP of Operations, Membership or Administration positions would be of interest to you. ANG would love to hear from you. Contact Jennifer Holmes, secretary@needlepoint.org, for a job description and details to apply.

ANG has an interesting new way to get some help – they are going to have a Zoom session for everyone to ask questions. You can join in on June 29 at 10 AM PST and ask away. You can also stitch away and just listen – you might learn something you never thought of ! There is a Zoom link in the newsletter that comes to your email.

New Club Alert from The Needlepointer. Perfect for this time of year and they should be a quick stitch. They would look adorable as stand ups. It’s the Floral Fantasy Club and is 8 months long. Each month you get a design on 18 count, thread pack and stitch guide. When done you have a spring bouquet. https://www.theneedlepointer.com/floral-fantasydiv-idclubsubtitleopen-enrollmentdiv/p8515598?cse=nl060725&goal=0_3621358244-18dffa4619-69343533&mc_cid=18dffa4619&mc_eid=2e6039e84f

I don’t know about you but I have been a fan of The Barefoot Contessa for years. I have all of Ina Garten’s cookbooks and you can’t go wrong with any of her recipes. Guess what I found !! You bet and I can’t wait to stitch her !! Check out Moore Stitching – they also have some other cute items but – I could not resist ! https://moorestitching.com/products/just-that-easy?_pos=1&_sid=3ff2df6c0&_ss=r&mc_cid=8657e674e8&mc_eid=4429aac277

Wait till all of you “bag ladies” see these !!! 2’s Company in South Carolina have “Scout Bags”. They have a whole selection including an exclusive one with a South Carolina print. The brand has a lot of sizes and shapes plus – they are water proof! https://www.2sconeedlepoint.com/shop/Bags–Totes.htm

Like we didn’t have enough choice – there is a new thread out there – Firefly Burmilana. The Needleworks is carrying it for both retail and wholesale purchases. It’s a wool and acrylic single ply thread that comes in 40 yard skeins. It has a little sparkle in it !! Something to try. https://theneedleworks.com/product-category/fibers/

Do you send your finishing to Needlepoint.com – they do a beautiful job. Before you send anything make sure it’s going to the correct place. They are doing their finishing from a different address now. They feel this will streamline the process and who doesn’t want that with finishing such a long wait.

New Store Alert – and there are 2 of them!! The Stitch Katonah store is now open! Go visit with Margaret and Kristina and see what they have to offer. Right across from a Metro North station it should be easy to get to. I only see them on Instagram but the store looks very pretty !!

The second store is Island House Needlepoint. You know them from finishing and those wonderful laying tools, now they have opened their space in south Norwalk CT as a LNS with areas to sit and stitch. They are in the maritime building – 11 Day Street Norwalk, CT. Their finishing looks fantastic and I am sure they have lots of suggestions if your not sure how to have something finished. Their web site even gives you other things to do in the area!! You may want to check their calendar for up coming events. Looks like a neat place for a road trip!! https://islandhouseneedlepoint.com/

Now for a First – Fireside Stitchery is going to hold their first retreat and they are calling it the First Frost Retreat. They are doing it on Sunday October 12th and it’s a full day event. They have not opened it up yet but they say that there is going to be very limited seating. Watch their web site and emails for when they release more details ! https://firesidestitchery.com/pages/classes

Congrats to KC Needlepoint – they have hit the 10 year mark in business. Polly and Carol have worked hard and created not only a fabulous store but a wonderful wholesale line. To celebrate they are launching a collection of exclusive celebratory canvases, doing fun giveaways, and more surprises along the way – watch for their emails ! Also, read their story – wonderful how it all happened for them. https://www.kcneedlepoint.com/blogs/news/were-celebrating-ten-years-of-kc-needlepoint?omnisendContactID=61fc368aa1816e00226a532d&utm_campaign=campaign%3A+Blog%3A+10+years+%28682f27f17880ba789f548c4d%29&utm_medium=email&utm_source=omnisend

Penny Linn has a wonderful clutch bag and now it comes in a new color – taupe !! They come with detachable chains and a Mother of Pearl closure. Tips and Tricks: An easy way to tell if your needle is the correct size for the canvas from Ellen Johnson of Serendipity Needlepoint:

Who was that Famous Stitcher? This is Joyce Petschek and she has a reputation as a “Bargello path finder”. She has a BA in Art History from Vassar and a master’s in Fine Arts from Harvard. You have seen her book from 1997 “Beautiful Bargello” – very popular. For Joyce, bargello is meditative and stimulates our creative ideas.

If you missed Chris Loudon’s talk on Bargello you missed a wonderful presentation. She incorporated several of the projects NJNA members stitched into her talk and she had lots more information she spoke about. If you belong to other guild’s she will be doing it again so you have another chance to hear her. I have to say, it was one of the best programs this year AND we have lots more to come. Another reason to become a member of NJNA. (I can’t wait for the sea jelly quick project) In November we are having Toni Gerdes talking about Rhodes Stitches. Lot’s of other things as well to look forward to.

ANG seminar will be here before you know it. Registration is closed now as the festivities start on August 19 thru the 24th. You still have time to sign up to exhibit one of your finishes ! The deadline is June 27th. For $25 you can also have your piece critiqued with a written assessment. There will be ribbons and awards for a variety of categories. There is a link to do this in the Needle Pointers Newsletter.

Morgan Julia Designs and Penny Linn have some great destination canvases that are new. The Napa Valley, Paris, Tucson, Crab and Lobster Schack’s etc. A great place to stitch one of these cuties is during their Nantucket Needlepoint Weekend. The plan is for Thurs July 24th thru Sunday July 27th they will be stitching at various spots across the island. It’s free to attend but you have to make your own accommodation plans. Check out Morgan Julia’s new items while you look for a destination canvas – she has pretty new picture frames that look like bamboo. They are matted with a 4.5 X 4.5 opening – the perfect size for one of her bar carts. https://morganjuliadesigns.com/collections/retail-only

Penny Linn has now collaborated with MacKenzie Childs and is having a launch party at the MacKenzie Childs Soho location on June 5th. You need a ticket to the event but she will put all the new items on her web site at noon on June 6th. The tease is a courtly check tea kettle with matching needle minder as just some of the new items they will be carrying. Save the date if you a MacKenzie Childs fan !

Morgan Julia Designs has decided to start a rewards program. She named it after her dog “Captain” so you will be earning “Captain Cash” after you sign up for the program. She says there are many more surprises to come. They are also celebrating 6 years in business – Congrats and we look forward to seeing MJD flourish for many more years to come. https://morganjuliadesigns.com/pages/captainscash?_kx=rV4MBEfWGkwURglkyUXCLopGavY2DCJQzP6Y94aO8T4.RWeQns

Have you ever stitched a small canvas for the Lee tissue box?? If so you know they only come in 2 colors, beige and a light blue green – until now ! They have finally added 2 new colors – Navy and green. Easy and quick for a gift as it is self finishing and honestly, I use mine all the time. Check out their other self finishing products, so well made. https://colonialneedle.com/products/bag79?variant=50027041915168

I am seeing more and more coasters to stitch. Really great patterns and designs are popping up. Sudberry House has so many great items to finish your projects with. Don’t we all have at least one tray ?!?!?!? They also make coasters to put your canvases in. Check out their web site as they have more than you may have known them for. A nice way to protect yet use your stitching. https://www.sudberry.com/

Speaking of trays – KC Needlepoint now has a variety of acrylic trays in different shapes and colors. They will finish your piece for you and put it in the tray of your choice. If you want handles on your tray they suggest you send them with your piece so you get the handles you like. (Too many choices for them to carry handles). So pretty with vibrant colors instead of the wood or clear versions you mostly see. It’s all a matter of taste ! https://www.kcneedlepoint.com/blogs/news/brand-new-tray-finishing-you-wont-want-to-miss?omnisendContactID=61fc368aa1816e00226a532d&utm_campaign=campaign%3A+Acrylic+finishing+%28682e10cdcbc76c5b2fd00094%29&utm_medium=email&utm_source=omnisend

Do you have a “Needle Garage” ? What a cute small project from Color Compliments. They collaborated with Kam Wenzloff on the design and the finished item measures 8.5 X 4.5 on 18 count with 25 different stitches in the PDF. There are 8 different color ways and each kit has enough thread to do a 2nd one. https://colourcomplements.com/product/needle-garage-diy-needlecase

I noticed a newer designer called “Sisters” needlepoint on Third Coast Stitches email. What caught my eye was Girl Scout Cookies ! What a great item to stitch. I looked at “Sisters” web site and they have several neat items from conversation hearts to great looking liquor bottles to sweaters and more. Something new and different not to mention small ! A good size for a self finishing item. Try Third Coast stitching https://thirdcoaststitches.com/collections/new-arrivals and if you face a “sold out” box try going directly to Sisters Needlepoint. https://sistersneedlepoint.com/collections

Lot’s going on at Gone Stitching for the month of June. They moved their summer sale up to June this year so all in stock canvases are 20% off. They also have a new class for the summer. A Frame Weight or Frog Bean Bag class which will be held on August 24th from 10 am to 3 pm. The class includes one kit with stitch guide bars and threads along with snacks and lunch. All canvases are 13 count. When you sign up just let them know which canvas you want to stitch. Please call the shop at 201-385-2100 or email them at office @gonestitching.net to secure your spot.

Tips and Tricks: I was taking a class with Dawn Donnelly and she had a wonderful tip when your working with Neon Rays. We all know how that fiber can shred/fray on the ends. Before you start to use it, put the end flat on top of a glue stick and hold down with your finger or a small piece of paper on top and pull it off. The end of the fiber now has a small amount of glue that will dry quickly. Once dry you can stitch with the glued end by the needle – it’s going to get cut off at the end. Sue C said in that class that she regularly glues the end before putting the card away so she is ready for the next time she uses it. Good tip from both Dawn and Sue C.

Who was that Famous Stitcher? That was everyone’s favorite Debbie Rowley. I’m sure you get her emails from her company DebBee’s Designs. She is always at seminar and has done at least one program for NJNA in the past. Look at her web site, she has lots of free designs, video classes, charts and more. https://debbeesdesigns.com/

This week’s meeting is going to be a treat! Chris Loudon is going to talk to us about Bargello (one of my favorites). In the past we have done bargello projects and almost everyone did something different. I know mine was too much fun with all the colors and different patterns that were used. Many have done the Lorene Salt piece “Bargello Muse” in many color ways. She has so many beautiful pieces to choose from. We will see what Chris can tells us and get everyone excited for another bargello project – it will not be hard !

Do you have your ANG membership ID card??? Yes you do have one. I know my number but… The directions on how to do it are: Log In, Accounts & Settings, Payments & History, Membership, View/Print My Membership Card. I think printing it for your name badge at seminar could be handy.

If you have encountered some younger stitchers recently remember to mention the Young Stitchers Membership Program. A great way to try out ANG for 50% off. So many opportunities for stitching with people enjoying a hobby that you also enjoy not to mention the educational benefits as well. So much to learn and try – so little time !!

News – News – News !!! A new needlepoint store is coming soon!! We are so lucky in this NY Metropolitan Area to have so many choices of stores and now we are getting another one! The new owners of Stitch Miami are planning on opening a store in Katonah NY – “Stitch Katonah”. They should be open for the 2025 Canvas Crawl. The plan is to have a grand opening on June 7 & 8. The Canvas crawl includes many well known stores in our area so you have plenty of opportunity to participate. Check out the list of stores on the web site: https://www.canvascrawl.com/participating-retail-stores

According to Instagram – Rita’s Needlepoint has a new owner. So glad to hear that they will continue in business in Manhattan NYC. If you go visit, they have a REAL NYC version of a needleminder (old subway tokens)- a must have. https://www.ritasneedlepoint.com/

Have you noticed how many new canvases there are with the subject of Mah Jong? Rittenhouse Needlepoint is taking it a step further – on May 31 they are having “Ready Set Mah Jong” classes. Choose 10 AM or 2 PM. They will be teaching all the ins and outs of the game so you will have a reason to buy some of those neat looking canvases. A great way to learn the game with friends. https://rittenhouseneedlepoint.com/pages/rittenhouse-needlepoint-events

More nice news is happening – the owner of Morgan Julia Designs is engaged !! They met on a dating app and both lived in St. Petersburg FL. which is where her company is located. During their dating Will had to move for his job – Up North! Hmmmm could this mean a future new location for MJD??? She says she is brimming with ideas for wedding canvases and more. Lot’s to look forward too. Best of luck !! https://morganjuliadesigns.com/collections/retail-only

I have owned a System 4 table and travel stand for years and years. I improvised how to take it with me, from a rolling sewing machine bag to a yoga mat bag. Now they have finally come up with what looks like a really nice travel bag for either of them. Check out Needlepoint. com for travel bags to accommodate either one. The bag for the floor stand also holds the clamp. They are made of light weight nylon yet look like they are padded. Worth it if you take yours with you and not just leave it home. https://needlepoint.com/collections/mothers-day-gift-guide-2024?_kx=SpNrwJYeSg8JHGV3vDRNkpeUD67Ddf2hdz1HBTATTO0.TxAVmM&page=2&utm_campaign=2025_05_10+May+Kit+Sale_Christmas&utm_klaviyo_id=01EY735XHE675Z0Z1C4Z7SB8DK&utm_medium=campaign&utm_source=Klaviyo

Don’t deny it – we are all a bunch of bag ladies. We love all shapes and sizes. I found on KC Needlepoint’s web site a lovely looking handbag that you can stitch a strap for. It’s all leather by Pom Pom London. It has several pockets along with an adjustable strap but you can replace it with one you stitch. I am sure – KC Needlepoint has lots of choices of straps!! https://www.kcneedlepoint.com/collections/purse-straps/products/pom-pom-london-bag

Have I got a notion !! And so does Rittenhouse Needlepoint!! New colorful bags, thread drops, snips….. Better to just scroll thru some picks then go to the web site for more. Lots of new and different items!! https://rittenhouseneedlepoint.com/collections/project-bags

Have I got a Needleminder !! Needlepoint .com has magnets from companies that I have not seen before. They are not only cute and colorful – they are flat! Much easier to grab a needle from a flat disk. https://needlepoint.com/search?q=magnets&options%5Bprefix%5D=last

Tips and Tricks: Getting stitched items finished is getting harder and harder these days. Designers have met that challenge with self finishing in all sorts of shapes and sized items. Have you tried to do it? It’s not easy to get the canvas under that tight edge. You need to try this new tool from KC Needlepoint. It makes such a difference! This tool has a pointy end to help create a gap between the outer and inner leather layers. The flat end can be used to help smooth out and straighten your stitched canvas inside the leather product.

Holiday’s along with fun Spring events have started. Now that we are past Easter and Passover we are headed for Mother’s Day and WOW – Memorial Day already !! ANG seminar is sneaking up there too. Registration is now closed for that. Don’t forget to order your NOLA Frame Weight !!! He is too cute !!

The talk Jacqui gave at last month’s meeting about beading made many fears and worries go away. Some of the horrors that we think about and dread she made simple to deal with. Makes you want to give it a go again. This month is about one of my favorites – Bargello. There are so many beautiful and intricate looking patterns you can make and it’s not as hard as it seems. Come join us for our talk by Chris Loudon on Bargello. Of course you need to be a member of NJNA so come join our group, we are always happy to see new members.

Congrats to ANG on their successful Spring Auction – makes everyone happy to get a new item and give a boost to ANG.

ANG has new Board Members !! Some faces you will know instantly but all worthy of congratulations. Good luck with your new positions!

Coming to your mail box soon is the new Needlepointers magazine for May/June. The cover pays homage to Jean Hilton and the back – they are right – it’s a WOW moment. Check out Carolyn Stolhand’s Grasshopper !!! Of course there is way more between the 2 covers. I can’t wait to read the column about different kinds of knots !!! Tale of 2 stitchers is mushrooms !!! Read “Swirls and Pearls” – it’s going to be showing up in a lot of places. There is plenty more to read and as a member you can look at it online now. Another winning issue.

The new Quarterly Stitch is out and even if you don’t want to do it – check out how it is done! I was taken back.

Since we are all really a bunch of bag ladies/gentleman – why not have some fun with it. I saw a friend with one of these bags – it was great !! (Good choice Eileen S) It’s called Blue Canary and they also have needlepoint canvases, the hats you needlepoint the top and other very neat items. I LOVE the bags ! They come in a variety of sizes. https://bluecanarycanvas.com/

Something else new and cool from those industrious people at the Wool & the Floss – is there no end to their creativity? Hand Made Self finishing tables!! They come in several sizes and colors. https://woolfloss.com/products/handmade-self-finishing-table-for-needlepoint-w-f-exclusive?se_activity_id=160843759836&syclid=d0b2koorjiic73fan4f0&utm_campaign=Susan+Battle+May+Trunk+Show+%F0%9F%AA%A1+_160843759836&utm_medium=email&utm_source=shopify_email

S&J Designs sent an email saying that Zweigart (the maker of our needlepoint canvas) has just raised the price by 10% to 15%. On top of that there is a 10% tariff now so be prepared to see the price of our supplies get more expensive. She says they are not increasing the price until the next shipment. Get it while it’s cheaper. (She is easier to get a hold of on FaceBook) https://sj-designs.net/

Do you tack down your canvas? Those tacks can be a pain to contain !! Look what Rainbow Gallery has put out – Japanese Brass Tacks. How great that the container not only holds the (50) tacks but has a way to easily remove them ?!?!? I found them for sale on The Needlepointer. https://www.theneedlepointer.com/japanese-brass-tacks/p8511187?cse=nl41625&goal=0_3621358244-28d1b2c5cc-69343533&mc_cid=28d1b2c5cc&mc_eid=2e6039e84f

Morgan Julia Design’s shows a Thread of the Month and this time it is a thread I have never noticed before but the results are so pretty. It’s called Bradley’s Balloons by ThreadworX #1154. It’s a hand dyed cotton floss with so many colors it looks like it vibrates in the skein but when stitched it’s just pretty !!! In the picture she did the skip tent stitch. She sells only a few threads on her site and this is one but you may want to look for it at your LNS. https://morganjuliadesigns.com/search?q=threadworx&_pos=3&_psq=threa&_ss=e&_v=1.0

New things are still coming out from the Spring Market. Stitch By Stitch has some new pouches from Rachel Barri. They come in several sizes and colors and you self finish it with a small canvas that tucks in the front. They also offer an envelope version. A great item for many things, not just needlepoint. https://stitchbystitchneedlepoint.com/products/rachel-barri-pop-in-pouch-large-light-blue?_pos=5&_sid=dd6d8e135&_ss=r

How much do we all love needle minders?? With the warmer weather coming we need something to remind us of the beautiful weather but Victoria Whitson also has new elegant ones along with some that will just make you laugh. Which ever way you go take a minute and look at what she has online !! You know you need another one !! https://www.victoriawhitsonneedlepoint.com/shop-7

Just in time for the summer – Morgan Julia Designs has a new Bar Cart – Palm Royal Resort! It comes with a really pretty canvas, a cabana inspired project bag, shift dress needle minder, Floss Away bags, 4 palm leaf coasters and all the threads. If you want to get in line for this one: https://admirable-snowflake-808.myflodesk.com/sv8nz4etlv?_kx=rV4MBEfWGkwURglkyUXCLopGavY2DCJQzP6Y94aO8T4.RWeQns

While we are talking Morgan Julia – she has some Thoughts of Wisdom – decide for yourself !

TIPS and TRICKS: I was reading the latest “Needle Notes” from Ellen Johnson. She has a great way to know if your using the right size needle. Check out her web site – she has an interesting section on: “Choosing the Right Needle”. https://www.serendipityneedleworks.com/choosing-the-right-needle/?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=A%20Little%20Thing%20That%20Makes%20a%20Big%20Difference&utm_campaign=%5BNeedleNotes%5D%20April%2027%2C%202025&vgo_ee=%2BSTJMJmiWstNrAZKxDGjgsQaahPCXAV2DrTkc9MGFg%3D%3D%3AKTKu6pcxLLpnJRbf86QV%2FlkGtAJQef2f

Who was that Famous Stitcher? That was Victoria Whitson !! Famous for some of the most beautiful needle minders, laying tools, Chatelaines and tassels for your scissors. She also has bought Tapestry Tent, Liz Goodrick-Dillon and Ashley Dillon-Davis lines. She has also partnered with Melissa Prince to present the Autumn Needlepoint Reunion – the largest wholesale needlework market in North America. Busy lady.

Get ready to hone your beading skills !! Jacqui C. is going to do a presentation on beading this month – the technique we love to hate !! Fabulous results but – ugh – threading that beading needle and the fishing line – yech !!! Jacqui has techniques to get around those horrors but you have to come to the meeting to get all the tricks of the trade !! Become a member and you will enjoy those benefits and more. Just a tease – May is all about Bargello. The type of technique for chilling out with !!

The Spring Fling courses have begun – how many classes did you sign up for?? Relax and enjoy this great opportunity to do seminar pieces without going to seminar. Looking forward to what they will offer next year.

Did you see all the new members of ANG for the month of March?? Like having lots of new flowers popping up for spring! They are from all across the nation except for NJ !! Let’s get the word out about the program for younger stitchers to join at 50% off. Get some representation from NJ in April !! Congrats to all the new members !

Are you doing the Quarterly Stitch of the Month? A Tree For All Seasons by Becky Breshears. Hurry and down load the current directions as it expires next week. Very cool how it looks 3D.

Another reminder – the ANG Hearts Club Stitch-A-Long is about to start the Origami Flower Heart. So pretty !! You buy the canvas from Judy Ann and they will be stitching it from May thru June. A list of the threads you need is below. Looks like the oppertunity to learn so many stitches with such a great result. https://judyannneedlepoint.com/product/origami-flower-heart-needlepoint-canvas/

Look at the new items that have been added to the Chapter Program Books – neat small projects !! Talk to your chapter program chair if your interested in doing either or both!

With Spring comes New – flowers, leaves, pollen(yech) and to the Needlepoint world comes Spring Market, new clubs and a New Book !! The release date is 4/8/25 for Emma Homent’s Next-Level Needlepoint. The pictures look like they are large and easy to understand. She offers advice as to where to use each stitch. You may know her from the popular box of 50 cards with a stitch on each card making it easy to take with you. I doubt this book will disappoint.

The newest club is thru the Needlepointer – Animal Mini Socks. They expect this club to start in July / August. It runs over 7 months with one sock per month and includes a thread pack and stitch guides. Very cute and an easy way to finish ornaments in time. https://www.theneedlepointer.com/animal-mini-socksdiv-idclubsubtitleopen-enrollmentdiv/p8515594?cse=nl040625&goal=0_3621358244-06485f55cd-69343533&mc_cid=06485f55cd&mc_eid=2e6039e84f

New Bags from Stitch Stash – she has new bags with new patterns, 4 roomy pockets, beaded tassels and 4 sizes along with a new snap tray ! They are so happy looking it’s a hard choice from one design to the next. https://stitch-stash.com/collections/clear-coated-bags

New Magnets (we are such suckers for a new magnet!) Morgan Julia Designs, Beau Verre Art and KC Needlepoint along with others have some new and different ones. * Look for the one that you put your needle thru it !!

If you go to Morgan Julia Designs to look at her magnets check out her newest canvas – something we all know to well – Diet Soda !!! You can almost taste the bubbles and the chilly ice cubes. https://morganjuliadesigns.com/collections/retail-only

New to me !! Have you seen Blue Water Needlepoint? Some really nice canvases. They also have 1 inch designs – great for some of those self finishing items. You need to contact your LNS as they only sell to stores but check out their web site – wow – mesmerizing! https://www.bluewatersneedlepoint.com/ Their web site shows who is having a trunk show.

New from Penny Linn (can’t wait to see her store !) in her New England style, she has some lovely new items. Check out her web site but make sure your credit card is hidden – one is nicer than the next !! https://pennylinn.com/collections/new-all

New from the Spring Market – and there is plenty to look at on The Wool and The Floss web site https://woolfloss.com/collections/orlando-spring-needlepoint-market-2025 and Stitch By Stitch https://stitchbystitchneedlepoint.com/collections/2025-spring-needlepoint-market-in-orlando. Both of these stores give you a good idea of what you can order or see in your LNS. I like that some of these designers are also giving you a choice of a canvas or ornament in the same design, like Blue Ridge or The Gingham Stitchery. Also go to Stitch By Stitch and watch the video on the clutch bag !! The Wool and the Floss is now the authorized Peanuts cartoon distributor. You need plenty of time as there is so many new items this spring!

Tips and Tricks: Did you know that you need a “Fluffity Fluffity Fluffer??? I didn’t until I used it ! I had an ornament that I used Whisper thread on. The hairs were matted on the canvas. Using a bunka brush was a bit to severe for the delicate threads and then I found this – worked like a charm !!! A Bedecked and Beadazzled item https://bedeckedandbeadazzled.com/product/fluffity-fluffity-fluffer/ An alternative method (thank you Cathryn) is to use a child’s toothbrush. Gotta think outside that box !

Who was that Famous Stitcher? That is Madalena Bruno – she was one of the owners of Stitch By Stitch in NY. She was always happy to help when you walked in the store, gave classes and has wonderful stitch guides. She will be missed but she is going on to other things in life. We wish Betty Scanlon the best of luck now that she is the full owner. A dangerous store for a stitcher !

Do you know who this famous stitcher is?

I will be back after the holidays – Everyone enjoy !!

We had our March meeting this past week and if you missed it – you missed a lot ! First there was the show and tell with a design in 2 colorways. Side by side was an amazing difference. I think we could have talked about that all night! The main attraction was the presentation by Debbie Rowley. She did her talk called “Anchors Away”. Having taken a class with her I can tell you that she is the nicest and laid back person. When she was having technical trouble she just went with the flow, did not get rattled. We all learned that you can both start and end all your threads on the front of your canvas. She went over numerous ways to start and stop a thread. I think we all learned something. She also sent ahead of the meeting a hand out so you have something to refer to if you want to give a new way of starting and stopping a thread a try. AND, she also allowed NJNA to record her talk. It will be on our web site so you can go back and watch it again – BUT – you have to be a member to do that. Just another reason to join in on our fun and become a member of NJNA. You gotta be in it to watch it !!!

Jacqui C. is getting her ducks in a row for programs later this year. She sent out an email for those of you that want to participate in the October and November programs. October is the Medusa Sea Jelly (I can’t wait for this one). It would look great all year round in a coastal home and of course on a holiday tree. This is a fund raiser for another chapter so it’s $40 and comes as a pdf with a list of threads needed and instructions. The other program is with Toni Gerdes. She does a lecture and mini workshop on the Rhodes stitch. The $15 kit comes with the instructions and 8×8 canvas. She shows how to use the Rhodes stitch for several projects. Jacqui needs to order in advance to have all the materials in time. She needs payment by May and of course, if you have any questions, email her.

The 2025 seminar registration is now open to all and closes April 30. The seminar runs from August 19 – 24 at the New Orleans Sheraton Hotel. I am sure there are closed classes already. Hurry and make your pick if you are going. All the big name designers will be there with many interesting classes to take. https://www.needlepoint.org/page/2025Seminar

Just in case your not sure of the location of the seminar you just have to look at the cover of the March/April Needle Pointers magazine. If you go to the web site you can look at it online. Make sure you have time to spend as it is another packed issue. A review about Needle Point podcasts, a preview of a new book about to be released by an ANG member that is a novel about a needle point store. The Tale of 2 Stitchers will keep you looking at the stitched items for a long time, they are both so beautiful. Shop Hop, how to organize your projects, a thread reveal and more – and more – and more !! I may not be able to wait for the snail !!

Don’t Forget To Vote !!! The candidates this year are: President – Nancy Perry, VP of Education – Toni Gerdes, VP of Finance – Jan Woolsey.

It’s that time again – the Spring Online Auction. It runs from March 27 thru 30th. Lots to look at and hopefully win a new Spring project. Check out the items and make a list of what you want to bid on. https://ang.schoolauction.net/spring2025/catalog

As many of you know, Pam at Edwardian Needle has been thru a lot. Being a very strong person – she has posted her class schedule for the rest of 2025 – yes – you read that right ! Call the store and sign up for what ever makes you happy. There is certainly enough choices.

I am so glad to hear that another 2 stores have moved and into much bigger space. This just tells me that this hobby we all love is growing in popularity which means we all benefit !! This time it’s The Needle Point Club House. https://www.needlepointclubhouse.com/ and The Village Needleworks https://www.villageneedleworks.com/ Good luck to everyone !

On a sad note – Madalena Bruno is leaving Stitch By Stitch after 20 years of sharing ownership with Betty Scanlon. Betty and her fabulous team will be there keeping this fabulous store on the cutting edge of the industry. We all wish Madalena only the best !!

Speaking of the cutting edge – it’s the beginning of Spring Market and of course like any good secret – there are leaks !! Many designers have posted some of their new canvases in advance because – they want you to tell your LNS to buy what you want when they come !!! Stitch By stitch has lots to sneak a peak of (check out the tote bag and lamps): https://stitchbystitchneedlepoint.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooH6_X6wJCDBrOoWraDtc2co2C_Yr_6w_z-KYpYT5MboZbMw3ep

Morgan Julia and Penny Linn also have been showing the new canvases they have for Spring – choices, choices, choices !! https://pennylinn.com/collections/new-all https://morganjuliadesigns.com/collections/retail-only

Everyone’s favorite – PLD has some great looking new items for spring. https://pldneedlepointdesigns.com/

Stitch Stash has such a cute new canvas for her “12 Months of Pink” series. Rachel Donley designed this one and (of course) it fits into either her Everyday Clutch or Everyday Wallet. A win – win – win no matter which way you go. 18 count canvas measures 6×3 and you can buy with threads or without. This is part of Patti’s effort to raise money for Breast Cancer research and she has already been able to donate $2,000 ! You go girl !!! https://stitch-stash.com/collections/pink-march

How does a weekend get a way with stitching friends sound?? Stitch Stash’s Rehoboth Beach store is having several dates for just such a fun time. Everything is planned for the “off season” so making reservations should be easier. If you want to arrange a different date for a private group she will do that too !! Better decide quickly as 4 of the dates are already sold out !!! https://stitch-stash.com/collections/retreat-2021

Atlantic Blue showcases several different designers and Rooney and Stitch are the ones with the dog cameos and the keys from famous hotels. They also have some new designs !! https://www.atlanticbluecanvas.com/collections/rooney-stitch

Thanks to Cathryn C for a look at a new stand for needlework – yes you can have more than one!! This one is a bit different as it is very small – great for travel. It’s also made of wood so it is much lighter than some of the items we all carry around. The “left field” part to this is that it is manufactured by a Ukrainian company called Velke Potoky. When folded it’s 11 inches long and 5 inches wide with a weight of under 2 lbs. Sounds perfect for a seminar or travel. It comes with a bag to travel with to keep it clean and safe. Now – it’s not meant for some of those giant projects we work on but it can accommodate bars up to about 14 inches. Now for the down side (there is always one !) the cost is $360 ! If you would like to read more of a review, go to “Needle N Thread” and read Mary Corbet’s view’s on it. She liked it so much that she plans of getting some for her store. https://www.needlenthread.com/2025/03/modern-needlework-stand-potoky.html#more-64298

Morgan Julia Designs came up with some “Stitcher-stitions” (say that twice !! LOL) Whether you believe or not one thing is for sure – they have some great canvases. Happy stitching. https://morganjuliadesigns.com/collections/retail-only

Tips & Tricks: Ellen from Serendipity Needlepoint has “Eight Tips for Getting Your Needle Point Stash Under Control” to start your Spring Cleaning (giggle! – inventory !!) She makes a lot of sense – read her blog and see what you think. https://www.serendipityneedleworks.com/de-stashing-needlepoint/?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=%F0%9F%AA%A1%20Get%20Your%20Needlepoint%20Stash%20Under%20Control%20With%20These%208%20Awesome%20Tips%21&utm_campaign=%5BNeedleNotes%5D%20March%209%2C%202025&vgo_ee=r0Nlma7d18KMN9Q2xBxmrhrfeWzw9dEBrTSfBCr7Hw%3D%3D%3AK9ykGnHEYlmDZ35b%2F7jOvmez1q1i511R

As you may know, ANG is trying to entice younger people to come join the fun. They have a deal to get your membership 50% less if your 35 and under. I certainly hope they are getting a bunch of takes because I found a list of the new members just for Feb – and that is a big list! This is a great way to “test drive” the organization to see if you enjoy our favorite hobby ! https://www.needlepoint.org/general/custom.asp?page=Membership

Did you watch the Today Show last week????? They had a segment about the new Penny Linn store – you can see it on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGv0Nltv7su/ I know people that went to the grand opening – hour and a half wait to get in the door !!! If you go to her instagram page you can see a tour of the new store – it’s big !!! She also has posted some of the new items for Spring. Can’t wait to take a road trip with the gang !

You may know that Melissa MacLeod the owner of the Wool & The Floss does a podcast with Megan Holmes, the owner of The Needlepoint Club House – called “Pointing It Out”. They have taken a break from that as Melissa has just moved but… Megan is going to move also in the near future. Good luck ladies – it’s nice to see needlepoint having a growth spurt !

Another big name in the needlepoint world is M’s Canvas House in Lexington KY. If you can’t find it – call them. She is the producer of the wonderful Big Buddies needle minders and is known for her “Bead Bar”. She now has a new adventure- a metallic thread line called Radiance. Check out the color variety (there are 102)- better than a rainbow ! The new thread is meant for 18 count with a new size for 13 count coming out in the fall. https://www.instagram.com/mscanvashouse/reel/DG0UKi9Ms0q/

Stitch By Stitch in NY is about to have their yearly retreat (everyone have a great time!) One of their staff, Betty, has had a tragic death in her family. In case your not aware – those beautiful threads from Color Compliments are a Canadian based company. The owner wanted to tell all her US customers that in this time of tariffs there is something called a a de minimis exemption. De minimis exemptions allow shipments under a certain value to enter a country without incurring customs duties or tariffs. These exemptions are put in place to simplify the trade process and reduce administrative burden. De minimis thresholds vary from country to country. Currently de minimus exemptions remain in place and orders below $800 are not subject to the current 25% tariff applied to goods from Canada. Any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out – info@colourcomplements.com

While your on their web site – check out the cute mug canvases she has. What’s Happening at NJNA 2/22/25

Standard

This month’s meeting was all about our health. As we age we have lots more aches and pains. Dr. Deryl Pace of Ivy Physical Therapy made us realize that you don’t have to live like that. She showed us the down and dirty of where and why we feel the way we do and how to help relieve the pain. The best part is – she knows what we do as she too needlepoints ! She was a wonderful speaker and even demonstrated how to do some of the stretches. She also went in to what you should ask if you go. Check your emails as she also sent pdf’s of exercises we can do at home.

You do not want to miss next months meeting. We will be hosting Debbie Rowley in a program called “Anchor Away” She will be talking about the many ways to begin and end your thread.

A week from today the 62nd Woodlawn Needlework Show opens. The show goes thru March 31st and NJNA has 24 pieces being exhibited. Take a trip down and see all the lovely entries but keep your fingers crossed that NJNA comes out with a few winners. Don’t forget the cookies by Nellies Needlers ! https://www.woodlawnpopeleighey.org/nwshow25

Seminar registration opens on March 3rd. Get your cup of coffee and sit by your computer so you can jump right in and get the classes you are hoping for !!! Classes are on a first come first serve basis so you probably need to be fast for many of them. Check out the online brochure and have handy a list of 1st and 2nd and 3rd choices. https://online.fliphtml5.com/bjsk/ntpi/#p=1

If you are joining in on the SOTM then remember to send your monthly accomplishment to Rosie L. She is putting together what everyone is doing and how they are changing their piece to be their own. Some are using different colors and fibers from their stash and trying different techniques. Each month at the meeting we will be seeing all the different variations and progress. Should be interesting !!!!

ANG also has a new Cyber Workshop with Toni Gerdes. The class registration opens on Feb 28th. These 3 candles have to be not only a fun stitch but a beautiful finish. Check it out on the ANG web site.

THE GOOD AND THE BAD

First – the Bad – A Needlepoint shop here in NJ is going out. Needlepoint For Fun is closing it’s doors after 7 years. We will miss them with their logo that looks like many of us on a couch stitching ! Their online store is open until the end of April. They also have a 75% off stock until it runs out sale. Moorestown NJ will not be the same. https://needlepoint-for-fun.com/?ml_sub=2683520560054408939&ml_sub_hash=d1u1&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=farewell_from_needlepoint_for_fun&utm_term=2025-02-21

Now for the GOOD !! There are several actually. First is that Rainbow Gallery is starting to ship again. According to Family Arts Needlework Shop, they were having a devil of a time with demand and not enough machinery to produce all their wonderful threads. New machinery is now in and working and shops should be seeing their orders being filled !!!

Next great news is that with Rainbow Gallery being able to deal with their orders more efficiently stores are starting to put Kreinik on spools – on sale- in anticipation of the new version on cards. Rittenhouse in Philadelphia has a sale going this weekend only. Buy 1-11 spools and get 50% off but buy 12 or more and get 60% off. Yikes – an amazing bargain! https://rittenhouseneedlepoint.com/?srsltid=AfmBOopUaNHQuuszfWCfuiD_XsIujEXnF6fC6-Ii7sU-7akyv-AxaFfW

The Wool and the Floss is moving to a new building! They will not be too far away from their present location and their last day there will be 3/1. They expect to be closed about a week and then back to business! AND, if that is not enough – they are being licensed by Peanuts to sell Snoopy canvases soon. They have a lot going on !! https://woolfloss.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoo1VeHbEjFhvqDYYRnUKLK0v9zUknSGUTWz3uiyhx6A0td7Lhuw

Morgan Julia Designs has announced that she has a new web site. Things are much easier to see and find. To celebrate, she has an offer for this weekend only. If you buy any canvases, accessories, fibers etc you will get a free boat tote needle minder. https://morganjuliadesigns.com/?_kx=rV4MBEfWGkwURglkyUXCLopGavY2DCJQzP6Y94aO8T4.RWeQns

Stitch Stash announced that they are carrying a new thread – Vineyard On The Go – the same great thread, Vineyard Silk, that you know just in a smaller size. Instead of 30 yard skeins this new item is 15 yards. This can leave you with less stash !!! https://stitch-stash.com/collections/vineyard-on-the-go

Hedgehog Needlepoint has a new series called Wee Flag Travel Tags. They have 36 countries with 9 more coming soon. Being 2 X 4 inches they are small and fit into the Planet Earth self finishing leather tags. https://hedgehogneedlepoint.com/collections/wee-flags

They will have day trips to different city’s and they will explore 10 (or more!) Christmas Markets, eat amazing food, learn about German & Austrian culture- and needlepoint while your at it! There is a free information event on Feb 26th that you can register for and ask all the questions you want. https://www.evergreenneedlepoint.com/pages/getaways?se_activity_id=158873977071&syclid=cut1slbqs04s738o4dcg&utm_campaign=A+Brand+New+Travel+Experience+from+Evergreen+Needlepoint-+Evergreen+Getaways_158873977071&utm_medium=email&utm_source=shopify_email

Tips and Tricks: A great way to help the environment and your needlepoint is to reuse those bags you get bed linens in. Not only are they heavy duty but many are odd sized to hold an odd sized project including threads !!
